How to Become a Positive Thinker – By Being Grateful

How to Become a Positive Thinker – By Being Grateful
by Claire McFee

We are all capable of thinking more positively. That’s not to say it is easy – it takes practise and requires learning to pay closer attention to our thoughts – and just how easily we can go off on often negative, unhelpful tangents! The ‘key’ is to figure out what motivates you most and find ways to enhance that.

Ready, Set, Goal

It’s always best to start with an achievable written goal that you can accomplish without too much effort to get the ball rolling. You need to let your brain know you can ‘do it’ and you are serious. This is like a little trial run per se. Ideas take time to form in your head. Just remember that your brain is always at ‘work’ whether you are sitting, reading, working and even sleeping. So frequently re-read your goals and the actions you need to take to ‘make’ it happen.

Take Action

Actions are louder than words. Action = deposits in the bank of the future you want. Without action, passion is void. This further instils in your psyche what you want your future to be like, helping it take ‘form’ all the while.

Make a commitment

Commit to yourself, as well as those you love to create powerfully a life you can love. Instead of ‘reacting’ to life as it comes at you, give more thought to your response to any situation and make sure it is aligned with your goals and also your integrity. This is what will set you on the right path to what you want.

Perfectly Imperfect

Recognize and appreciate that each moment is ‘perfect’ regardless of the outcome. If you are in a challenging situation rather than resisting it, try ‘going’ with it and see what transpires. You may be surprised at the course things take, that may well end up helping you get where you want to go. Just buckle up and learn to enjoy the ride, changing fear responses into a ‘what can I learn from this’ attitude.

Lessons to be learnt

If the outcome of a situation isn’t what you expect or want, take on board any lessons from the experience – as there is always one or many! A challenging situation that doesn’t go ‘your way’ may well end up being one of those ‘silver lining’ experiences that does in fact end up leading you to where you want to be – upon reflection. Make a conscious decision to use the experience by learning from it and continually make the Mind-shift necessary, to ‘think’ your way to success.

Be grateful

Learn how to dwell completely in a place of gratitude. Utilize what you already have in your life and make use of it in the most constructive way by being thankful for it. If need be, remind yourself of how much more you have than the majority of others in the world. Learn to identify when you slip into ‘victim’ mode, which will only ever bring you unhappiness and more of the same. Being needy will become foreign and uncomfortable to you when you repeatedly gravitate towards gratitude and prosperity and away from a poverty mindset.

Use a the Three R’s

Many people are stuck in the Shoulda/Woulda/Coulda Mindset. Make a conscious decision to change this to Recognize / Re-evaluate / Restore. One is based on increased knowledge and abundance while the other focuses on scarcity and lack. Which do you think will take you where you want to go in life? Take it upon yourself to learn more about these philosophies to ensure you achieve the Mind shift you want to become a positive thinker.

Learn to laugh at yourself

Keep humour at the front of your thoughts, laughing at and with yourself whenever possible. You may find yourself quite entertaining when you loosen up! Life has so much to offer to allow you to mope around in self pity. Humour is a very attractive, passionate, life-giving trait. So build on yours

Believe in yourself

Believe that you are the architect of your life’s destiny. No one can take your passionate future from you except for you. You have the power. Just be careful what you wish for!
